River Meadowlands
Site Code: 59M06
Area: 0.6ha
This small area of riverside ash woodland has wet areas with willows and alder and a variety of wetland wildflowers including common valerian, marsh marigold and ragged robin. Wet woodland is a national priority for nature conservation and is rare in Oxfordshire.
Most importantly the site has a good population of the rare Lodden Lily. This wildflower is found mainly along the Thames in Oxfordshire and Berkshire and along the River Lodden which gives the plant its name. Kingfishers are regularly seen the river here.
