The majority of these wildlife habitats are on private land and access to them is not possible without permission of the landowner, unless there is a statutory right of way. Alluvial Lowlands

Site Code: 41V08

Area: 1.5ha

This site consists of two small borrow pits which were probably dug during railway construction in the area. Tall wetland vegetation with large sedges and reed-grass is now found in the pits along with areas of wet willow woodland. Both habitats are national nature conservation priorities. There is also a bank of drier ash woodland along the southern edge.

Wetland wildflowers found here include the tall colourful purple loosestrife, meadow-rue, common valerian and yellow flag iris.
